David Hesketh
David Hesketh retired as past president of the AEMT at this year’s AGM. After a long and distinguished career in the industry (which we hear is not over yet!) it was decided to make him an honorary life member of the AEMT.Dave started out as an apprentice at Dowding and Mills, and until recently he was the Rotating Machines Works Manager at Bowers Electricals Ltd. During this time he has also made time to be a very active member of the AEMT joining council in July 2010.
He became Chairman for the Northern Area from 2010/2011; Vice President in 2012; President from 2013/2014; and Past President from 2015/2016.
Dave has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the older machines and has a large following from the happy band of volunteers and engineers trying to restore elderly trams and trains.
Many of you will remember a much younger Dave working on a short series of Salvage Squad, where helped them to restore parts of the Blackpool Trams it can still be seen on Youtube here: https://youtu.be/YpWP9DuXYs4 (9m50s in)
It is with very great pleasure that the council has agreed to offer Dave Honorary Membership of the AEMT.
Philip Bourne
Philip Bourne became General Manager at Hulme and Gibson in Stoke on Trent, which was founded in 1967. The company later abbreviated its name to H.G. Rewinds Ltd, and became an ABB motor service provider and an authorised value provider.Despite a busy schedule at H.G. and with his family, he found time to become Treasurer of the AEMT in 2005, Vice President in 2006, President in 2007, and Past President from 2008 to 2012.
He was also a director of The North Staffordshire Engineering Group Training Association (NSEGTA).
It is with very great pleasure that the council has agreed to offer Philip Bourne Honorary Membership of the AEMT.
